Artist Profile: Al Bergin
As a mainly self thought artist, Al finds inspiration in his routine rural surroundings. Whether it is a hayfield, golf course, quiet salt water cove, favorite remote trout fishing pond or a loved animals, he brings the same passion and intensity to each painting. He has worked in several different mediums and surfaces including high relief wood carvings and stone but now mostly acrylic on masonite.
Al has received local, regional, national and international recognition for his artworks.
In 2009, his paintings were included in the recently published and now sold out book titled “from Land and Sea, Nova Scotia Contemporary Land Scape Artists” which was also chosen as gifts to 60 world delegates attending the NS pavilion at the upcoming 2010 Winter Olympics. Al was also chosen as a 2009 Canadian Ducks Unlimited National Portfolio Artist for his Nova Scotia marine scape painting titled “Stepping Stones”.
