Artist Profile: Barbara Carter
Born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, in 1958. My interest in art began at an early age. My interests are in the human figure and expressing psychological states--the internal landscape.
I began showing and selling my work in 1988. My earlier work was created in fabric, stretched over masonite, and framed behind glass.
I am a self-taught artist who listens to my "gut", "heart", "inner voice", whatever you care to call it. My work has evolved over the years to mixed media.
I have instructed art programs for adults and children.
My work can be found in both private and public collections, including the Nova Scotia Art Bank.
"Waiting Mothers" can be found (outside the cafeteria) in the Grace Maternity Hospital, Halifax, NS
