Artist Profile: Jamie Brown
"My work is a happier reflection of the natural landscapes that surround me. I work primarily in watercolour and always directly from photographs. I enjoy the fluid properties of the medium and attempt to portray the constant movement that is found all around us. My goal in every painting is to create a sense of place within my landscape that will evoke emotions, and with certain people, pleasant memories."
Jamie Brown grew up in the small community of Whitehill, just outside of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia on a family farm. Jamie has always had a creative nature, however she didn’t actually start painting until the age of 19. She has participated in a handful of workshops and several watercolour lessons, but for the most part is self-taught.
Growing up on a farm has given Jamie a great appreciation of nature. You will find her paintings are filled with lively colours and focus on the ever-changing perspective of the outdoors.
Currently residing in Halifax, Jamie is working hard to make painting her career.
