Artist Profile: Judy Shedden
Born and brought up on Nova Scotia's rugged sea coast, Judy Shedden is the daughter of the late professional photographer, Leslie Shedden, whose photos are published in Mining Photographs and Other Pictures.

Growing up beside the dominant power of the Atlantic Ocean, I have always loved the many moods of the sea. This combined with the advantage of having a father who mentored me and taught me his understanding of perspectives and compositions of photography led me to draw and paint at a young age.
My paintings reflect how I see the beauty around me. I love the land and the sea and capturing that on canvas fills me with joy. My own emotions are reflected in my paintings; whether it is the pensive mood of a castle ruin or the power felt in the sea . Watching the ocean waves crash against the shore brings back wonderful memories of my youth. One who has lived by the sea can never again be free of it, nor would I want to.
