Artist Profile: Lisa Martin
Several years ago my art changed from painting large, single brilliant flowers to painting and creating with raw emotion based on events personal to me and life altering experiences. Much of my work has a darker emotional cast to it, sometimes containing a humourous take on my life.
My studies have included Queen's university and a BEd from Atlantic Baptist university. I currently instruct high school visual arts in Sackville New Brunswick. I am hoping to begin a Masters in Fine Arts later this year.
My art has evolved from painting to include ceramics and felting. I have found working with organic materials such as wool and clay gives me a stronger connection to the environment and allows me to take the creative process one step further.
I have exhibited this past year as far away as Iceland, and currently have a solo exhibit entitled " Genesis to Revelations" at the Dieppe, New Brunswick Arts and Cultural Center. This exhibit is a collection of painted and felted works.
