Artist Profile: Louise Baker
Louise Baker made the Maritimes her home in the 1970's and has had a career as a professional art director after obtaining a degree from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Louise is now able to devote more time to painting.
She enjoys painting a wide range of subject matter in a sensitive impressionistic manner. Always looking for a fresh perspective on whatever it is she decides to paint. Noted as a colorist, her paintings are filled with subtle and bold color combinations and patterns. There is always a graphic quality to the work and the paintings are well designed.
In Nova Scotia, Louise is represented by the Art Sales and Rental Gallery (Art Gallery of Nova Scotia), as well as the high quality artisan boutique, Jenny Jib in Lunenburg. Her paintings are part of many private collections.
Artist quote "I am grateful to have the desire to make art. Primarily I want to enjoy the process - exploring my environment in every season, the enhanced observation and engaging with fellow artists and art lovers. My interests and inspirations are many but the theme that runs through all my work is design and color. I strive to make sensitive but dynamic impressionistic paintings. For me painting is totally engrossing and stimulating."
